Northbrook

Located at the Northern edge of Cook County, the village of Northbrook dates back to the late1900s and is known for its many parks. It’s within close proximity to one of the nation’s most well-regarded botanical gardens, Chicago Botanic Gardens, a 385-acre living plant museum.

Fun fact, film director, John Hughes,filmed scenes from Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Uncle Buck in Northbrook.

Glencoe

Located 24 miles north of Chicago’s Loop and bordering Lake Michigan, Glencoe has a lot to offer. There is an abundance of parks, convenient beaches, golf courses and a modern business districts along the North Shore. If you’re into architecture there are thirteen Frank Lloyd Wright-designed structures. Many of his Prairie style structures he created early in his career can be found here.

Deerfield

Located in Lake County and Cook County, Deerfield is home to several large corporations HQs, including Walgreens, Caterpillar and Takeda. The Deerfield Historic Village is founded and maintained by the Deerfield Area Historical Society. The outdoor museum consists of five historic buildings. In the 1850s, the Deerfield home of Lyman Wilmot served as a stop on the Underground Railroad as escaped slaves attempted to get to Canada.

Glenview

Located 14 miles north of Chicago's downtown district. Portions of the Forest Preserve of Cook County can be found here, as well as numerous different types of wildlife. They are known for their Farmer’s Market which started back in 1988. The Market is located across the street from The Wagner Farm which is a preserved historic working farm for the community to enjoy.

Riverwoods

Established on the banks of the Des Plaines River, the village is appropriately named, Riverwoods as it’s also a woodlands preservation community. Each year they host an annual "Arts & Riverwoods" festival. Riverwoods features many examples of midcentury residential design, including over 40 homes designed by "prairie modernist" architect Edward Humrich.

Winnetka

Located 16 miles north of downtown Chicago, Winnetka is home to numerous houses designed by several renowned architects. The oldest surviving house in Winnetka is the Schmidt-Burnham House which has been moved twice since it was built. Fun Fact, the famous house from Home Alone, I & II are set in Winnetka. Several other films were also shot in Winnetka including Ocean's 12, Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Barrington

Located northwest of Chicago, Barrington features wetlands, forest preserves, parks, and horse trails. It is known for its Victorian, Victorian Gothic and Queen Anne architecture. The village hosts the "Barrington Brew Fest", showcasing Midwest microbrewers and l the "Great Taste Fest of Barrington" featuring food from local businesses.

Hinsdale

Hinsdale is a western suburb of Chicago. Its downtown area is a National Register Historic District due to its historical significance. The Hinsdale Parks & Recreation Department offers year-round programming and activities including a community pool. The Hinsdale Historical Society runs the Roger & Ruth Anderson Architecture Center, they advocated for the preservation of Hinsdale's historical architecture.
